Racing Development Sprint Training Program for Youth from age 10+


All children are welcome, as the program is for inexperienced paddlers and introduces children to the sport of Olympic style paddling in sprint canoeing and kayaking.

Participants will be taught fundamental canoe and kayak skills, such as balance and boat control, steering and basic technique. Primary focuses in this program will be around physical literacy both on and off the water, as well as fun and safety in the athlete environment.

The Racing Development Training Program reinforces important personal skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication, building self-confidence, and will teach the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle.

All equipment is supplied by the club. On-water coaching and planned workouts take place five times per week from May through October.

Participants will be given the opportunity to compete at local regattas.

Program runs:            April 29th – October 28th 2019

Program practice schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 6:00 -7:30 p.m. & Saturday 9:00 - 10:30 a.m.

All practices are subject to change based on the weather and/or Coach availability. There are no practices during long weekends.

Program Requirements:

Must be able to swim and tread water. All athletes are required to wear a PFD when on the water.

Cost: $ 500.00 Program withdrawal is 10% of the program fees and fees non – refundable after one month.

Volunteering: There is an expectation of up to 10 volunteering hours per family.
