Intermediate Sprint Training Program


This program is designed to accommodate intermediate canoe and kayak skills, such as propulsion, advanced steering and proper technique.

Primary focus in this program will be around both physiological and technical development. General aerobic endurance, speed, nutrition, and goal setting will be some of the primary target areas of this program, as well as fun, water safety, and pure enjoyment of sport and fitness.

The Intermediate Sprint Training Program will reinforce important personal skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication, building self-confidence, and will teach the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle.

Club equipment is supplied. On-water coaching and planned workouts take place five times per week in May, June, September, October and seven times per week in July and August.

Participants will be given the opportunity to compete at divisional and provincial regattas.

The program is coached by the Head Coach.

Program runs: April 29th – October 28th 2019

Program practice schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 6:00-7:30 p.m. & Saturday 9:00-10:30 a.m. Additional Practices (July & August) Tuesday & Thursday 9:00-10:30 a.m.

All practices are subject to change based on the weather and/or Coach availability. There are no practices during long weekends.

Program Requirements:

Must be able to swim and tread water. All athletes are required to wear a PFD when on the water.

Cost: $ 750.00 Program withdrawal is 10% of the program fees and is non–refundable after one month.

Volunteering: There is an expectation of up to 10 volunteer hours per family.
